My go-to dentist. After spending quite literally the majority of my life terrified of the dentist, Dr. Porter finally made that fear almost completely go away. I had to have several things done (Root canals, Fillings, Extractions..you name it) and I have NEVER had those procedures be pain free. Dr. Porter changed that however: Whenever I showed even the slightest hint of discomfort he would stop and make sure I'm properly numbed, and would occasionally check in with me to check that I'm OK. I have another root canal being done tomorrow but I'm not too worried about it. I would recommend these guys to anyone. The front staff has also always been very sweet and kind. Can't believe I'd ever say this about a dentist - but I love this place. ~ Emrah K

Genesis Dental is such a beautiful office. The waiting area is clean and relaxing. The staff is friendly, professional, and they treat their clients with respect. My dentist Dr. Foltz is the friendliest and most kind person. I feel so comfortable and calm when having regular cleanings and while having dental work done. He and his staff go out of their way to ensure that their clients are happy. I highly recommend Genesis Dental. All of my children see Dr. Foltz and even my 9 year old who, in the past was afraid of the dentist, is calm and happy going in to the appointment and coming out. That’s saying something. There are about four or five dental offices closer to my home but I am happy to drive past them for my appointments at Genesis Dental. Definitely book your next appointment there. ~ M. O

If you're looking for a Dentist THIS IS THE PLACE!!! I've put off going to see a dentist due to a couple bad experiences in the past. I received a flyer in the mail about Taylorsville GENESIS DENTAL and decided to check them out. From my initial call to get an appointment the front office staff, TARA and ALYSSA are amazing with great customer service skills, truly outstanding role models. Then on to the incredible DENTIST, Dr FOLTZ and HYGIENIST, ERIC. They were so thorough and made me very at ease. Incredible these men are!!! I have such a fear of dentists and reason for my procrastination. Their fantastic skills calmed me down in a short time with their kindness and compassion. I left feeling truly comforted and blessed. First impressions are powerful. I gladly give this dental practice 5 stars. Elena was awesome. She was able to confirm my insurance quickly and that is important to me. Elena made me feel like I knew her forever. Heidi was my hygenist and did a super job cleaning my teeth. I did not care for the X-ray process. The piece that went into my mouth was very uncomfortable and kept jabbing my mouth. I never realized that getting mouth X-rays could be so difficult. The dentist was super, I have decided to continue going to this establishment. I have a follow up appointment to take care of some small cavities. I was with my previous dentist for 28 years and it was difficult to leave but they do not carry my insurance. I look forward to Genesis Dental providing me with many years of dental treatment. ~ Deborah L

Genesis Dental of Taylorsville’s professional and friendly atmosphere is the first thing that impresses you as you enter the office, or so it always has been with me. In the years I have been going there, I have always been greatly appreciative of how they respect my time by always getting me in at the time I have been scheduled for. A lot of other medical offices could learn something from that practice. I see Dr. Porter, who is absolutely the best at what he does. This is no exaggeration... when I had to have a root canal on a tooth of mine. He was so adept at doing it I literally fell asleep during the procedure. I like my smile and that is due, to a large extent, to the entire office here. If you follow my reviews you know I don’t just say great place unless I really feel it to be. GREAT PLACE! ~ Jonathan J

On monday i had the worst monday ever as always. I have been eating gronola bars to help me stay skinny. Its working!! But then i cracked my tooth on a granola bar I've been in pain all week and it was cutting my tounge every time i talked or ate food. This dentist office has been there for me time and time again. I do not have dental insurance. They always make sure to help me and make it financialy not so hard on me. Today we did a temp filling. It feels a million times better!! Next tuesday ill get a root canal and they will b able to save my tooth. I know most dentists would just pull the cracked tooth. Genesis Dental always goes out of their way to save my teeth. I am so grateful for them! 🖤 I'm feeling so much better today !!! ~ Melissa G

Can I give 10 stars for customer service, coolness, and just getting the job done? How can I give 10 stars? Well that is what VICKI recently did for me when I called in to change my appointment. She was super friendly, super cool, engaging, and took care of me/helped me out. I have been going to Genesis for a few years and they are always super cool but Vicki tooked it to another level so that I keep coming back.. To her BOSS/Owners make sure you treat her right (give her raise/bonus) cause you have a WINNER working for you. Best experience ever! Me and my 3 year old daughter went together. The staff was so helpful with her. She had an awesome experience and even wanted to go back to the dentist again to get her teeth checked! What child has ever liked to go to the dentist?! That is how fun Genesis made her visit and how kid friendly they were! I loved the professional and welcoming environment. I loved the thorough explanation of everything during my visit. I also appreciated how they had everything organization and prepared for me when it was time to wrap up my visit. Best office visit I've had, period! I was in and out with no problems for me and my daughter. Glad I chose this office! ~ J. D

I havent been to the dentist in over 25 years. Needless to say a trip was well in need. I just did a google search for a place close to the house. Man did I get lucky. The hygienist was great explaining what she was doing and didnt hurt to bad.haha...the doc was awesome letting me know about the procedures I needed to do in the future. The best part of my visit was Rachel at check out time. The worst part of the dentist is writing the check even with insurance. She made it very accommodating to take care of. Never thought I would say this but I really enjoyed my visit and look forward to having a good mouth full of teeth....genesis dental rocks!!! ~ Zach O

I absolutely love genesis dental!!! I’ve been going here since I was a kid for over 15 years. They can do everything! Most dentists don’t offer everything but genesis does! They do braces, root canals, I even got my wisdom teeth out with them and didn’t need to go to another office for a specialist. I’ve seen staff retire and lots of staff still work there that i remember as a kid! The staff is super sweet and understanding! I also get nauseous and they do whatever they can to make me comfortable. I especially want to say thanks to Dr. Steven Foltz for always making me laugh or think of something else when I’m getting something painful/ stressful done! I love you all ❤️❤️ ~ MacKenna A

I came from Monarch dental and it was night and day difference. These guys were very transparent with the x-rays, even taking a picture of the brown spot on my tooth they had to fill. I asked for them to send me the x-rays so I could check them with a relative who is a dentist to make sure I really needed a filling, and they had it sent to my email within a half hour. The cleaning was lightning quick. I don’t remember the gentleman‘s name, but he was awesome. And then when I came back to get my filling done, Alisa took great care of me and Dr. Fultz was amazing. No pain, lots of explanation. All done within a half hour. ~ Nicholas H

The staff here is always very kind and easy to work with. My hygienist Eric has always done fantastic with me and my family, and always seems to do the best polishing leaving my teeth super white (even at the gum line). The hygienist Bailey who most recently worked on me was amazing and I have to mention how thoughtful she was during the cleaning that I didn't even have any sore bleeding gums, and she overall was very kind and made me feel at ease. Dr. Foltz has also been a great dentist to work with. He has a friendly but more importantly a very calming demeanor which is something most dentists could work on. He also does a thorough job of explaining things to me, which someone of my curious (and anxious) nature appreciates. Genesis dental has a different location that is closer to my house, but because of the staff mentioned above I still prefer to drive a little further to the Taylorsville location. -DC ~ David C

I have been coming to Genesis Dental for a few years and my four children (3 are adults) also see Dr. Foltz and his team. I cannot express enough about how friendly and caring he and his staff are. You are immediately greeted in such a genuine and kind way when you enter their beautifully maintained office. There is such a warm and calming energy at Genesis-even my young child feels at ease and actually enjoys routine appointments. She is getting braces soon and sees her orthodontist Dr. Young at this location and she isn’t the tiniest bit afraid of these visits because she feels so safe and cared for by Dr. Foltz and his team. Also, I like to support businesses in my community. Why drive across the valley to see another dentist, when Genesis Dental and his wonderful staff are right here? My family is pleased and happy with this dental office and their compassionate and efficient staff 1000%. ~ Michelle O

I had needed a new dentist for a few years and am self-conscious about how I have slacked on getting my teeth cleaned regularly. I went to Genesis for two crowns. Not only were they very kind with me and didn't belittle me over the condition of my teeth, but the entire appointment was smooth and painless. I get a lot of anxiety over dental work, but they are by far the best dental practice I've gone to. They used numbing cream before giving me a shot in the gums and the gas had already been started for me, so I barely felt the shot. They asked my preference on having a "bite block" or not. They worked quicker than expected and checked on me frequently to make sure I was comfortable. They had over-estimated on the cost, so it actually ended up being less than I expected. Everyone in the office was kind to me and I will feel very comfortable going back for my future appointments. Highly recommended. ~ Heather A

Front desk is awesome in scheduling and working with changing agendas. Dr Porter is nice, friendly and very helpful. Only received a mild guilt trip about not flossing :) Great real-time x-ray system which is 10x faster than the dentists of the past. Terran, the hygienist, remembers little things from the last 6 month conversation that makes it feel like patients are important and treated as a living individual. They also do pediatric dental care. Haven't heard any kids screaming from my chair, so that's a plus. Lol. Billing is also flexible and they're willing to work with you, with or without insurance. ~ Al H

I have never been a fan of dentist visits and have had some real bad experiences over the years. I try to avoid going as long as I can. Until now. After coming here I feel I have finally found a place that is great! Dr. Foltz and his assistants Terra and Gina are top notch professionals and are very considerate and kind. Eric is an amazing hygienist and very good at what he does. Jenn and the crew at the front desk are always there to happily greet everyone with a smile every time they walk in the door and kindly help with any questions you have and are very quick to help. These guys are phenomenal! Jenn is literally the sweetest person and super easy to talk too! Dr. Ho has been wonderful every time I come in to see her. I see them as my regular dentist for my checkups and cleanings and I just started an Invisalign treatment with them as well, which Dr. Ho is overseeing. They are thoughtful, communicative and all very personable. They remember my concerns, as if they were their own and they’ve worked with me for recommendations to specialists for some problems with my gum health. They are very reassuring in all of my visits and scheduling with them is easy peasy lemon squeezy! ~ Jonathan K

I’ve been coming to this office for years and they’re SO good. People around me always complain when they have to go to the dentist and I’m like, “why??” and I realize that I don’t understand because I come here. Eric is the best dental hygienist I’ve ever had in my life - he is quick, thorough, and SO personable. Dr. Foltz will make the worst dad joke you’ve ever heard, (which I say with amused awe and reverence) and he’s gentle, friendly, and knowledgeable. Let me start by saying going to the dentist gives me major anxiety. I had put off my cleaning for almost 3 years because I didn't want to search for a new dentist after moving to the area. I scoured google reviews for clinics and I'm very happy I decided to make an appointment here. Terrin was my hygienist and she was great. I felt at ease as she started my appointment. I found out that they also will be able to do my wisdom teeth in house which was another big reason for choosing this clinic (again, I've put this extraction off because I get so anxious thinking about it). I will try to remember to update my review after the extraction to give some insight as to how that went and the recovery process since I've heard getting them out later in life can lead a bit more difficulty with recovery. The only negative I can think of is that I had to wait a bit for my appointment, but I also got there early. However, the waiting did not warrant a less than 5 star review. ~ Molly H

I have been going to Genesis Dental on Redwood Rd for about 15 years now. They're professional, friendly, and always take care of my dental needs. I moved to St. George over 5 years ago and I still come to SLC every 4 months for my appts. Recently, the dentist was ill so the office was busy rescheduling everyone. I had arrived in SLC the night before and needed my cleaning done so I wouldn't have to turn around and come up from St. George again. Even though I couldn't see the Dr., the dental hygienist cleaned my teeth as usual...now that's taking care of your patients! ~ Dorrie H

This is my second time getting my cleaning done with Eric. I must say I absolutely look forward to my cleaning because of him! The whole staff is amazing! Front desk, Jenn, Marlee and Vicki are always so nice and friendly. They always welcome me with a bright smile and friendly attitudes! Dr. Folts was so good at going over my concerns and creating a perfect treatment plan for me. Let’s not forget about the assistance. Tarra, Mellisa and Alisa are such amazing workers. I had an emergency, and they were able to get me in right away. The staff, and dentist & assistant, were all extremely nice, courteous, friendly, helpful, and non-judgemental. The dentist did an amazing job, with hardly any discomfort, and thoroughly explained all of my options beforehand. Other than cleanings, this is the first dental work that I have had in my adult life since wisdom teeth removal, so I was a bit anxious, and I was put at ease, and had such a great experience. AMAZING EXPERIENCE! I'm terrified of dentist visits and was in pain last night. Scheduled something late last night and they were able to get me in early this afternoon. I think the assistant was Lindsi, I could be wrong but her and the dentist were extremely caring and made the extraction seamless. Talked me through the whole process and checked in with me throughout the whole thing. I think I found me a new permanent dentist! Thank you all so much!
